Recognition:
For our work and contribution in the field of Self-help group promotion and
empowerment, NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and rural Development, India)
has given us the State award on SHG Performance for the year 2000-2001.
ANTODAYA aims at facilitating the people’s initiative on above lines to eradicate
the high incidence of poverty and under development as indicated by the
following:
11% literacy among male and 9% among female.
Less facilities of Education at the village level.
Inadequate health services facilities at the village level.
Malaria endemic zone
No drinking water facilities in most of the villages.
67% of HHs are landless.
The agricultural wage rate among the male and female is 3.2Kg of paddy per day.
No efforts from Government to provide work to the people in the lean seasons.
The interest rate charged by the Moneylenders is 50%for; a period of 3-5 months credit, and with weak formal credit institutions.
Incidence of land mortgage and distress sale is prevelant.
ANTODAYA has so far adhered to the above principle and managed to handle the
projects successfully supported by different Resource Agencies like Action Aid,
Cord Aid, NABARD, Ministry of Labour, Department of Tribal welfare, National
Literacy Mission of India and SANKALP
